TWO NDJC NURSING GRADUATES RANKED TOP 9 AND TOP 10 IN THE JUNE 2016 BOARD LICENSURE EXAMINATION FOR NURSES
Two NDJC Nursing graduates made it to the top 10 of the June 2016 Board Licensure Examination for Nurses. MISS ZSHEERAZHADE GASPAR ranked number 9 and MISS RASHIDA HABBI ranked number 10. In addition, 63 examinees passed out of 76 first-time takers giving NDJC a passing rate of 83% that surpasses the National Passing Rate of only 43%. The new registered nurses had their oath taking ceremony and recognition on June 22 at the NDJC Covered Court with Mayor Hussin Amin as the officiating officer. As a sign of appreciation, the NDJC Administration gave Php100,000 as a gift to the two topnotchers. Last year, another NDJC Nursing graduate, MISS TAZMEEN MARIWA ranked Number 6 in the May 2015 Nurses Licensure Examination.
NDJC PRESIDENT’S BIRTHDAY FETE
Last June 20, 2016, Fr. Romeo Saniel, the 15th NDJC President celebrated his 58th birthday. The celebration started with a short Inter-faith and birthday program in the morning. It was immediately followed by outreach activities organized by the Campus Ministry Office and Community Extension Services. It was a solidarity celebration with the poor. Different groups composed of volunteer faculty members and students distributed assorted goods to the following: Provincial Jail inmates, Drug Rehabilitation patients, Sanitarium clients, Day Care Center pupils, Tricycle drivers and Provincial Hospital patients. Fr. Jeff Nadua, Fr. Marjeo Delfin and Bro. Bobby Diana joined Fr. Romeo Saniel in the distribution of the goods that were mostly donated by the NDJC Faculty, Non- teaching Personnel, students and alumni.
NDJC SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL UPDATE
The Senior High School (SHS) pioneering Grade 11 of NDJC has 828 officially enrolled students. Since the new SHS building is not yet completed, they are temporarily attending their classes in the college buildings. The new SHS building will be inaugurated on September 8, 2016. The three storey SHS building has the following features: 21 classrooms, internet room, computer laboratory, chemistry laboratory, physics laboratory, canteen, library, TLE laboratory, guidance office, principal’s office and faculty room.
The following Vicariate-wide project proposals have been submitted to different funding agencies for financial support, namely: 1) the computer system and solar development of the four Vicariate Notre Dame schools, 2) the secondary level development plan of Holy Family Hospital in Bongao, and 3) the expansion of the Graduate School and canteen of Notre Dame of Jolo College.
Bishop Angelito Lampon and Fr. Rodel Lopez are in the final stage of the preparation for the Vicariate Pastoral Assembly to be held in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi on August 17-20, 2016. The objective of the assembly is not only to re-activate the different pastoral ministries of the Vicariate but also to provide opportunities for greater collaboration and teamwork among the Christian leaders and Oblate Missionaries.
The Vicariate community welcomes the Oblates who are newly assigned in the Sulu and Tawi-Tawi mission areas: 1) Fr. Jeff Nadua, the new Parish Priest of Mount Carmel Cathedral, 2) Fr. Renan Aban, the new Director of Notre Dame of Cagayan de Mapun, 3) Fr. Roger Caalim, the Assistant Parish Priest of Holy Rosary Parish in Bongao; and, 4) Fr. Danny Pacate, the new Director of Notre Dame of Tabawan.
